How the store works

From a publisher's release to your people's tab

Publishers keep running their product on their own servers — often for customers outside Motion too. Motion is another way in: who opened the app, which company, and only the access you granted.

The path

Four hands on every install

  1. 1

    Publisher

    Opens their app on Motion

Often an app people already use elsewhere. They write the listing, point Motion at that product, and set the permissions it asks for.

  2. 2

    Motion

    Reviews it

What it asks for, where it runs, what the listing promises. Approved, it goes live.

  3. 3

    Your administrator

    Installs it

Reads what it can access, accepts, and chooses who opens it.

  4. 4

    Your people

Open the same app in a tab

Same product as the publisher's other users — through the portal's interface, theme and notifications.

Guarantees

Updates and permissions stay under your control

Updates that ask before they take more

An approved version reaches every company at once — unless it asks for a new permission. Then your administrator sees it in their bell, reads what changes, and accepts it; until then you keep the version you had.

Five permissions, plainly written

See who is using it · read the directory · read the groups · send notifications · publish news. Each one is listed on the app's page, and an app gets all it asks for or is not installed.
